Menta Designs is a multidisciplinary studio located in Asturias in Oviedo.
We are specialized in Graphic Design, Illustration, Printmaking and Art Edition, also we have a network of collaborators, designers and artists who help us with projects that require the hand of a specialized professional in another field.
One of our strengths is the realization of unique wedding cards, designed by ourselves, so you can't find these invitations  anywhere.

As I said in my last journal,  I've been working for months to form a small bussines of design, illustration and crafts, so 'cause of it many things in my way of working will change.  One of it is that I'll have to start billing the works and adding the I.V.A (Something like V.A.T), so the prices will change a bit. For my last waiting list commissioners, don't worry the prices will remain until I complete your orders.
I hope you understand that the things must change because I'm going to have to deal with legal and tax obligations, also I've to work according to official price list.  
Anyway there are many positive points, I may make and offer things that I couldn't do.

Well, I hope soon open a special offer on behalf of my Study and so  walk around the terrible world of billing for first time, YEAH!

Lately  I've had very abandoned my DA, the people here  (THANKS TO ALL FOR YOUR COMMENTS AND SUPPORT) and my very patienced and friendly commissioners (I'VE TO GO BACK TO APOLOGIZE FOR MY CONTINUING DELAYS), I haven't forgotten my obligations and my duties to you.

The title of this journal is because some friends and I've been working for months to form a small bussines of design, illustration and crafts together. Due the mundial crisis and especially here in my country (Spain) is really difficult to live working in design and illustration 'cause, although we 've good and professional artist, here the payment is really poor, the conditions and treatment are painful and here isn't seen as a profession but as a hobby, so many Spanish artists travel or work for other countries where it's seen as a profession.

Well, tired of whining we decided to be our own bosses and work under the conditions that we believe are fair. So lately I've been so occupied and  also here in Spain is very difficult to open your own bussines  'cause of the huge bureaucracy and excessive fees and a lot of absurd laws to be obey. To create a company... only in "paper", you need to spend thousands of dollars on it, then spend more in legal requirements and then the costs of  the establishment.

We took weeks fighting with all these requirements and, although considerable work remains before declaring victory but we are seeing light at the end of the tunnel.


I hope to write back in a few days and I hope to get back to work more continuously in my orders. I'll keep you informed when I've more time-

Well, I  assumed that this was going to be a good week, I thought to write a journal talking about my plans, about proyects and all of this things but..... my "new" pc (I bought it a year ago) breaks yesterday.......

Few weeks ago we started to work in a comic proyect with an a person and with a friend we work in other professional proyect , so my time to work in other things, like commissions, has been reduced, my dearest commissioners I'm sorry for my  slowly work!.

Well... on this week was supposed that I'd to work hard in the comic and other orders but my damned pc decided to take a rest. I didn't see anything wrong with it before and now suddenly it breaks. Always the same when you more needs the Pc more troubles! I hope to recover my data, specially work files.

I HATE THIS KIND OF THINGS!!!!!!

I guess I'll have to take to fix it... ARG!


(I'm writting this from my sistah's pc, but when she returns I'll have no time to use it 'cause she needs her pc to work too)


UPDATES:

Well a friend comes and helped me, he recovers the system, but I think that the pc has dust inside and it overheated. Well is under warranty so take it to the shop to clean it.

Hi everybody, as you know the past 11 March Japan lived one of the worst days ever when the Tsunami hits their coasts and destroyed villages and lives in few hours.

The country is trying now to recover the normality, rebuilt the affected areas and overcome the pain.
To help the japanese people a group of spanish artist have joined together to offer our work at a charity auction.

  I'm really impressed by the images and videos I'm seeing in the news's chanels. I feel really sad for all the destruction and lives the tsunami takes. I hope the international comunity send help soon to Japan. Is a great catastrophe.
Anyway I'm really impressed, too, for the strong building that japaneses creates against this disasters  and is really amazing the japanese organization and spirit to face up it. If this had happened anywhere else would probably have been more destruction, more victims and more chaos.

My support and thoughts are with Japan.
